FIXED AND DETACHABLE RECONSTRUCTIVE DENTISTRY-PROSTHODONTICS A fixed restoration is one that cannot be removed from the mouth without the expertise of the doctor. A removable or detachable restoration is one that can be removed from the mouth with ease by the patient. Dentures - In most cases it involves a partial or full removable appliance, which can assist someone in realizing the fully functioning potential of their mouth. Functionally a person will learn to speak, eat and interact publicly better and more effectively, while also being able to look and feel better about one's self image. Crown and Bridges - The easiest way of replacing missing teeth is the placement of a fixed bridge. This is accomplished by placing crowns on the adjacent teeth where a tooth is missing and making a false tooth for the space where the tooth has been lost. The major work can usually be done in one appointment with a return visit needed for delivery of the bridge and final cementation. Combinations - In many situations combinations of fixed, detachable and implant dentistry can be utilized to restore and reconstruct someone's complete dentition.
