Consultation

Implant treatment consists of four segments: the initial consultation, the placement procedure, the healing period, and the restoration. During your first appointment, one of our dentists goes through each step of the process, ensuring you have the time to ask any questions or voice any concerns. The examination allows our dentists to determine if you meet the qualifications needed to undergo the implant procedure. To be viable candidates, patients must have no signs of infection, sufficient jawbone density, and adequate surrounding gum tissue.

Placement

A dental implant is typically made up of three components: post, abutment, and restoration. Dental implants restore a tooth from root to crown. Missing teeth roots can expedite a process known as resorption, where adjacent bone is used to fill the empty spaces left behind by the root of the tooth. The post is strategically placed into the jawbone to provide stable, strong support to the prosthetic. Implant posts are what encourage healthy tissue growth and keep the jawbone from undergoing the resorption process.

Healing

Once you have received your dental implants, it can take up to two weeks for you to feel normal and go about your daily life as you usually would. Around the 14th day is when one of our dentists remove the sutures. However, you may not obtain your permanent restoration until the implant post has fused with surrounding jawbone. Osseointegration is necessary for a successful implant treatment and may take up to 4 months to complete, but usually, the implant can be restored in 6 to 8 weeks.

Restore

After your dental implant has integrated with surrounding hard tissues, you may now receive your permanent prosthetic from one of our highly experienced prosthodontists. Drs. Steven Stanley and Henry Chen specialize is restorative dentistry, and both can meet your dental needs while exceeding expectations. Depending on the number of missing teeth, you may receive a crown, bridge, or denture, each made of aesthetically pleasing material able to seamlessly blend with surrounding teeth.
